"....In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."             2 Corinthians  4:4

The real bluesman and follower of Jesus. So many have redone this song but no other capture its soul and roots as the great Blind Willie Johnson. Susan & Derrick Trucks band has an awesome version of this. My favorite cover of this was Glen Kaiser & Darrell Mansfields version of this.

To Jonathan Rasmussen (below) C.S. Lewis became an atheist but attributes his many talks with J.R.R. Tolkein, who was a Catholic, to his conversion to Christianity.  It is his books you have never read.

The female accompaniment on this track is most likely his wife, Angeline, a local gospel singer that met Willie in June of 1927. (They were married the next day.)

I have been listening to him and his wife for 1/2 century (Folkways LP incl. Sam Charters search, finds widow in Texas: "Blind folks has a hard time.") Also Blind Gary Davis. They had true faith. I respect it. Play BWJ "God Moves on the Water" about sinking of the Titanic. See also Mance Lipscomb.

Hi. Just wrote a long Reply to some Brit, but you have to scroll done pretty far. Might be worth it to you to read it.
