I’m 54 and on the weekend I watched the Paul Gambaccini documentary on Buddy and the Crickets. This song really connected with me and suddenly filled all the gaps explaining where the Beatles, Stones, Hollies and many other iconic bands came from. Love this particular song.

If there is anyone out there that doesnt love Buddy Holly I will go up to them and beat them senseless because he is the most caring talented artist to exist so far and is hard not to love him for who he is

I believe they pieced together this track after he had died. The song is made up of one recorded verse featured twice and the strings were added to give it a sort of bridge. Great version of the song though

This was produced after Buddys death. He recorded it in the NYC apartment he shared with newlywed wife Maria Elena. Buddy had an Ampex single track reel to reel. Its just him and his acoustic guitar. You can google Apartment Tapes Buddy Holly and theres two entries. One that has about 5 songs on it and another that has about 15 songs. If you find it check out Crying Waiting Hoping...Its unbelievable!

What a beautiful song. So wise the lyrics, you cannot own love, love is a change in you - it possesses you.
