My Comment at another context that wound up here. ... My favorite Rollye story so far is when she was a fly on the wall at the Miami Americana hotel. Count Basie was the band. Peggy Lee the vocalist. 1958 young Rollye living at the hotel is too young go but knows how manage the service corridors. She is figuring things out. Ladies in green are the working girls. When the Senator from Tenn. brings in his new trophy wife wearing green, hilarity ensues. Mitch Millet of Columbia label takes it as proof rock n roll is evil. Convinces the Senator. Rollye tells it better. Made me recall the story of an elderly Mitch complaining of the constant music from the upscale unit next door. A group called Steely Dan practicing over and over. Karma for giving Charlie Parker a hideous glee club or French horns.
