I keep discovering awesome music from Devo. How are they not one of the most beloved bands in the world yet? People have really been missing out.

Those were the days for me. So fleeting, in retrospect.

Also, the b-side to this single “Penetration In The Centerfold” was great.

The uglier things get, the more beautiful they become. Devo had the secret to life that just keeps being missed despite its truth: Duty Now For The Future . Is that so hard?

Such an awesome, quarky, and catchy tune. One of my all time favorites from Devo and an often overlooked gem. Duty Now For The Future is an amazing album!

This has always been my favorite DEVO video. I remember seeing this for the first time on HBO of all things. Before MTV existed, HBO (then still going by it’s full name - ‘Home Box Office’) used to show music videos during the long breaks between movies, and this was one of them. I was just getting heavily into DEVO at the time. Saw them for the first time in July ‘79, and it was a total game-changer. Unfortunately a year or so later ‘Whip It’ started attracting all the wrong people to DEVO and their albums started to suck... but the first 2 albums will always be some of the best music ever recorded, and even after 39-40 years I never get sick of listening.
