Blue moon, you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Some one I really could care for
And then you suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms could ever hold
I heard somebody whisper please adore me
And when I looked the moon had turned to gold
Blue moon, now I’m no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own
I had the privilege of seeing her perform / sing in Chicago about 1957 / 1958. Her voice, her characterizations of each song, her deeply beautiful voice and beautiful singing were all present. What was especially wonderful and amazing was the fact that she did all that with no stress, no breathing; she simply opened her mouth and all that beautiful music flowed out as if it were a simple sweet breath, like a young child blowing out birthday candle. She was total magic.
This was our first dance song for our wedding :) my husbands father used to sing and whistle it to my husband when he was little. He passed years before our wedding so this was an easy choice to make.
