I remember this when it came out in 1948-49! I was only 6,and it still thrills me at 75 ! No one can replace "Gene" .

When I was 6 I was in a dance class, and for Christmas we did a routine for this. For the beginning we were each assigned one of the eight reindeer; we would be kneeling head-down, and when our assigned reindeer was called, we’d each have to raise our heads with our antlers on. I was Dancer, and, while I remember none of the actual dance, to this day I still become alert when he says “Dancer.”

And this was the B side of the 45. Here comes Santa Claus was the A side. Got this LP for Christmas 60 plus years ago. Gotta get it out and play it.

The amazing thing about this song is that initially, Gene Autry did not want to record "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." It was at the urging of his wife that he finally gave in and "cut the disk" apparently at the end of a recording session of other songs he was recording. And the rest is history.
