People sings and tell tales about ghost trains while ghost must come from something that was alive. It is because a steam locomotive is like a life especially to those railroad men and people who love it. The locomotives mentioned in this song were both wrecked in other train folk songs. "The Cannonball" was the Cannonball Express that was driven by Casey Jones on his final ride to fame, and the song Casey Jones is based on a true story. "No.9" is a fictional train wrecked in the song "the Wreck of No.9".
