To me, this song reminds me of Family, past and present. I am fortunate enough to be able to trace my family line back quite some time. I have a large family now and I also think of them. Hearing this music, I see their faces, I hear their voices....it makes me very emotional. Its not depressing though, its actually very cathartic and it reminds me who I am and where I come from. I have never seen this movie but this song really takes me to a special place.

its a good song but i was some what sad/mad when i found out that it did not have any thing to do with a cow on a hill. i am somewhat a cow enthusiast so i was disaponted when i found out it had nothing to do with a cow. but still a great song

This piece conveys what my heart currently feels but language fails, falls short and ls incapable of sharing.

Brought here by "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History". It was used for the opening shot over Campobello Island in episode 4. Damn Ken Burns for picking musicians who create tunes that stick in your brain.

I learned Ashokan Farewell on the fiddle & this gives me that same happy soulful feeling. Absolutely breathtaking.

I think I will learn this song and play it to the cows on the hill! Beautiful song and it reaches deep into the soul. Jay and Molly are geniuses when it comes to music.
