Very nice. This is essentially a small group out of the Carroll Dickerson big band that Armstrong and the rest played in almost nightly at Savoy Ballroom the South Side of Chicago. The first Hot Five had always been a recording only super group that made only a couple of live performances at events for Okeh Records. This group did regularly play together but as part of a much larger band. It did let Armstrong, Hines. and Singleton develop a closeness that was different from the first Hot Five

Pops was born a genius.  Love the hot  five, too.  Singular.
