No drummer...amazing... this shows you that you need a drummer to lay out a canvas of rhythmn...not keep timing

Did anyone else realize after that there were no drums? Fast paced with a tight sense of rhythym I almost forgot there was no drummer. Completely awesome.

Thanks for this, Nat was (and still is) much admired on this side of "the pond".

re: the speed up when recorded, didyaknow that Les Pauls "how High The Moon" was also sped up? Only reason I know is Buddy Fite, ( Portland Oregon, now deceased ) learned to play guitar not knowing this and did it perfectly.

Not only was Nat the greatest voice ever, he was also one of the greatest jazz pianists ever. There will never be anyone like him - truly one of a kind.

The great jazz musician/educator, David N. Baker, who helped to codify jazz language as we know it today cites Nat King Cole as one of his main early influences and inspirations. Baker was probably in about the 7th grade when this recording came out. He said in class once: "Nat was it - back when we were doing what we did!"

People are amazed by Nat. Rightfully so. He was as much a music genius as any European styled virtuoso. Big difference was, he could compose on the fly. I question whether anyone was his equal.

We miss you Nat. No one can take his place, ever. A real class act, in every way.
