I'm not like them
But I can pretend
The sun is gone
But I have a light
The day is done
But I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb
or maybe just happy
Think I'm just happy
My heart is broke
But I have some glue
help me inhale
And mend it with you
We'll float around
And hang out on clouds
Then we'll come down
And have a hangover
Skin the sun
Fall asleep
Wish away
The soul is cheap
Lesson learned
Wish me luck
Soothe the burn
Wake me up
I'm not like them
But I can pretend
The sun is gone
But I have a light
The day is done
But I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb
or maybe just happy
Think I'm just happy
Happy song with sad lyrics. some of what you say might be true, but I never assign much meaning to his lyrics. He admitted he would write stuff down last minute and then people would interpret things they way they wanted. He was never that obvious and like to write oppositions. That and honestly when i play this song without the lyrics i hear something entirely different.
yes, he was a drug addict but was not proud of that. Doing drugs does not define who you are as a person or make you less than anyone else. it is not a weakness. Rather it is a coping mechanism usually due to unresolved trauma, and/or self medication for anxiety and depression.
