Read about this song in a book called "Waiting For The Sun - Strange Days, Weird Scenes, and The sound of Los Angeles". It talks about this solo, and how it was one of the first on pop records.
Ricky Nelson was a very weak performer, especially when compared to other rock ‘n’ rollers around then (eg. Jerry Lee, Elvis), but he sounds fine here. Also worth a listen is the flip, ‘My Bucket’s Got A Hole In It’, a reworking of the old Hank Williams Tune. Ricky sounds better here than he does on his earlier records, like ‘Be-Bop Baby’, but his voice is still pretty ‘flat’ sounding. He would have made for a good crooner. I prefer the overdub with the Jordanaires, provides a ‘fuller’ sound
